  2. Hi Megan,

This all looks good so far. I've got a few suggestions for further research:

'Andrew R. Johnston -- Animating copies : Japanese graphic design, the Xerox machine, and Walter Benjamin' (available from Canterbury or Farnham)

'Chapter 2. What? (Forms)' (available from the Library or as an ebook) - covers adaptation in terms of changing a work's format and also addresses animation and adaptation.

The reemergence of mythology, fantasy and fable : examined in the works of Mary Zimmerman, Robert Wilson and Julie Taymor might be worth a look as it covers the original Lion King movie. Also The lion king : pride rock on Broadway looks at the Lion King stage show but might be worth a look in terms of adaptation and 'live' action.

It would be a good idea to back up the information from tweets with good quality interviews with creators/directors (e.g. http://www.denofgeek.com/uk/movies/spider-man-into-the-spiderverse/62201/spider-man-into-the-spider-verse-directors-interview) and be sure to make use of the Library's online journals search for academic writing on The Lion King and Ghost in the Shell (for example hhttps://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/intellect/josc/2018/00000009/00000003/art00006;jsessionid=9u8fsi0f2kyt.x-ic-live-02#). You can use these links to see some example searches:
    "lion king" disney

"ghost in the shell" remake 'Remaking Yamato, remaking Japan: Space Battleship Yamato and SF anime' in particular looks good.

Finally, you might need to decide if you address the issue of race and casting in the Ghost in the Shell remake as that was a well known controversy at the time. If you do, there are online journals that address it.

If you need anything else, you can reach me via aday7@uca.ac.uk or email gatewayrochester@uca.ac.uk to arrange a tutorial.
