Character Design - Props and Sidekicks

Expression sheet

Rough Gesture Poses
Bailey's personality is quite vocal, even though she is labelled as an outcast she still has a voice and uses it. although people ignore her this doesn't discourage her as she has other important focuses such as reading. Bailey doesn't necessarily have a sidekick other that herself, she carries herself around just fine, her only obstacles are the classmates 'in charge' of the school that being her bullies. When it comes to props her iconic object is her glasses and the bat she picks up, when the bullies push her too far she obviously has had enough, the glasses breaking signifies her 'breaking point' and the bat becomes a signifier for her overflowing anger.

Justin also suggested giving Bailey a new hairstyle, so when she confronts and over powers her bullies she then gives herself a new appearance the next day, so not only her personality changes but her appearance too.

Props - Futuristic Pirate
In Justin's morning class we were given a setting and had to turn in into a futuristic version. I was given The Age Of Piracy, it was a bit of a struggle but I had to remember who these objects would belong to.

  1. Hi Meg. I spoke to Justin after you left today and he explained your character design idea. I reminded him there was a film character that has some of the qualities of your Bully character. It's called 'Election' (1999) and stars Reece Witherspoon as an ambitious 'preppy' student who wants to win a student election at all costs. Matthew Broderick is her teacher who (for various reasons) tries to stop her winning. I realise its not exactly your idea plot-wise but its worth watching just for the Reece Witherspoon character's psychology, motivations, and mannerisms.
