Film Review - Inception (2010)

The Start (Ordinary World): Cobb and Arthur are 'extractors' who use experimental technology to infiltrate their targets subconscious to extract valuable information through the shred dream world. As they come to be unsuccessful with their latest targets, Saito a Japanese Businessmen reveals he setup their mission to test Cobb for a job.

Inciting Incident: Saito proposes to the pair to perform an impossible task: planting an idea in a person's subconscious or rather known as 'Inception'. His must convince Saito's ailing competitor Maurice Fischer to dissolve his father company. In return Cobb will be granted Immunity for his previous crimes providing him passage into the United States. Accepting the offer this lays down the linear progression of the story.

End of Act 1: As Cobb is introducing Architect Ariadne to the dream state, she manipulates too much of the world and it triggers Cobbs subconscious to attack her, revealing Mal (Cobbs deceased wife now apart of his subconscious) kicking her by stabbing her, this disgusts Mal and she threatens to leave. Mal is a massive part of Cobb's subconscious and coming across a familiar within a dream causes her appearance and her interference.

Mid-point (Act 2): With the group assembled they now run through tests of how sedatives cause a smoother drift into the dream, how time works within the layers, and how to trigger kicks. all the while prepping the plan to plant the idea within Fischer.

Start of Act 3 (Race to the Climax): This plot point occurs when they are already 3 layers into the dream, Arthur and Eames have to line up the kicks while Cobb and Ariande dive into limbo to find Fischer before Yusuf's van hits the water triggering the kick.

The Climax: Fischer is revived and enters the code to the door, revealing his father in a hospital bed, he approaches him and his father gives him the code, opening up his inner subconscious to be his own man and not follow his father. As after he gets the code Eames and Arthurs kick sync up to Yusufs kick just as Ariadne kicks herself.

The Denoument & End: Cobb dives deeper into Limbo finding Saito whom has aged terribly, they manage to escape Limbo and wake up successfully along with everyone. With the mission complete Cobb is now immune from his crimes and can finally see his kids.
