Character Design Workshop - Shapes & Style
Today in our first character Design class we learnt about how characters are portrayed through shapes and style, our first task involved being given a character, we had to change and alter the shapes they represented. this resulted in changing their personality and archetype.
I was given Donkey from Shrek, his shapes are more circular squares which communicated his personality of being rather comical and friendly. I altered his shapes by making them more edgy and triangular which resulted in him looking rather sinister and unhinged.
Our next task involved style, we picked a character of our own and had to alter their style, for me I chose Lara croft whom in her latest game is portrayed rather realistically so i wanted to draw her her in a more simplistic comical sense, dialling down details and emphasising on certain features to communicate her character.
